Fluorescent jacket for motorcyclists in Mauritius
What's the fine for not wearing the fluorescent jacket (gillet fluo)? Do you get points on your licence too? And is it only at night that you need to wear them?

now no need to wear in the day only at night and on not respecting this law and order you will have to pay a fine of Rs 1000
you have to wear it at night and during the day
during the day i know your question
why....because the bad weather the light became dark.
The Road Traffic Regulations for Use of High Visibility Clothing came into force on 1st January 2014 and carries a Rs1000 fine if you're found guilty. You don't get penalty points, just a fine.
The law concerns motorcycles and autocycles, not bicycles as far as I'm aware and the reflective jacket should be worn at night (due to protest, the government has altered the law and there's no need to wear it during the day as was the case before).
The high visibility clothing should conform to the following standards:
- Made of polyester material which is fluorescent in either lime yellow, red or orange
- Adjustable and ability to close at the front
- Have 2 vertical and 2 horizontal stripes at the back and front which is not less than 50mm
It should not be obstructed from view as well, therefore, you're not allowed to carry a bag over the jacket and if there are two persons on the motorcycle, both should wear it.
