Are tinted windows in cars allowed in Mauritius?


Do we have the rights to tint car windows and what does the law says about this. thanks in advance

Two things you need to know. First is about the level of tinting permissible and second is how the tinted is done.

From the Road Traffic (Construction and Use of Vehicles) Regulations 2010
Subject to subparagraph (b), the glass of the front windscreen and windows of every motor vehicle shall have a visual transmission of light of not less than 75 per cent when measured perpendicular to the surface in accordance with the procedure specified in the operating manual of such device as may be prescribed.
This means that you can tint your windows up to 25%.

From the ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 1962
Driving a motor vehicle having its windows and windscreens covered with plastic or other material, or made of tinted glass-regulation 42A(1) of the Road Traffic Regulations
The plastic film that is normally used is thus considered illegal.
