How much does a driving lesson normally costs and for how long?

Some driving instructors charge a bit more for automatic driving lessons, I'm not sure why though because it's more difficult to learn a manual, so you'd think they'd charge more but I think the reasoning behind it is that you'd need less lessons for automatic, so they put up their prices whilst you'd need more lessons for driving a manual and although they're charging less, they'll get more out of you.

Now the golden question is how many lessons would you need? :)
